How do you support people and teams through a major organizational relocation?

This was the challenge facing Danone’s Early Life Nutrition business when it announced that the division would relocate from its long-standing home in Trowbridge, England.

The move involved significant logistical and operational considerations, but Danone also recognized that successfully managing the human side of the transition would be equally important. Employees needed support in understanding their individual reactions to change, adapting their working styles, and forming effective new teams.

Building on a partnership that began in 2009, Danone used Insights Discovery and the language of the color energies as an integral part of its wider change program.

This case study was created by Insights, DEVELOR’s strategic partner.

    The joint journey included:

    • Using Insights Discovery profiles to help employees understand their individual reactions to change
    • Applying the language of the color energies throughout the wider organizational change program
    • Supporting teams as they formed, reformed, and adapted to new circumstances
    • Helping employees identify collective strengths, challenges, and opportunities
    • Accelerating relationship-building and mutual understanding within newly created teams
    • Enabling internal practitioners to provide targeted support at different stages of the change journey
    • Embedding a common language that employees could use in everyday communication

    The results:

    • Faster integration and greater effectiveness within newly formed teams
    • Stronger awareness of individual and collective behavioral preferences
    • More targeted support for employees throughout the change process
    • Greater adaptability in how teams approach different situations
    • A shared language that became embedded across the organization
    • Continued everyday use of Insights beyond the original development interventions
    • A more agile organization in which employees could see situations from different perspectives

“People are using and talking about Insights every day, and we are making the most of our initial investment. Insights has enabled individuals to see the world from a different perspective, making us a more agile business.”

    — Paula Ashfield, Organizational Development Manager, Danone Early Life Nutrition UK
